A place where I discuss all things related to toddlers and motherhood!
As a clinical psychologist, published author, and mother to two cheeky young children, I get it. I’ve spent YEARS researching and filtering through the noise online, so you don’t have to.
I know that aside from tantrums and aggressive behaviors, oh and sibling conflict, witnessing our child’s anxiety can feel triggering.
It’s really easy to try to fix their feelings and make them feel brave again.
None of it is done with ill intent.
It’s just so 😨 dang 😨 hard to see our children experience pain, including fear. And we parents want what’s best for our little ones, am I right?
But you know what this means for our little ones? Not only do they have to try to manage their fears but they have to do this alone.
In this video, you’ll learn:
✅What your role is during these interactions.
✅Concrete things to do to help your child process their fears.
✅How to help them navigate their fears without completely avoiding them.
✅Other important things to keep in mind about anxiety and stress for little ones.
Signs you should reach out to a provider to address your child’s anxiety:
💥Worries/fears tend to interfere with their every day life such as their sleep and eating patterns.
💥Anxiety prevents your child from making new friends or interacting with others.
💥Your child’s school performance has been negatively impacted.
💥You’ve tried to implement several tips and nothing seems to be working. In fact, things seem to be getting worse.
💥Overall, their symptoms appear to be worsening in severity (causing more distress) and/or duration (takes longer to calm down).
💥They are complaining of bodily complaints that are not explained by medical causes.
💥Overall, you’re just worried about your child and want some clarity and help.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s pediatrician and/or a local mental health provider who can assess and provide tailored support if you’re worried about their anxiety.
